Kaprun Castle - Burg Kanprun
Kaprun Castle is the largest ruins in the Pinzgau region. Built on a cliff edge in a dominating position, the great hall has a length of 56m and the courtyard has a width of 25m. A bailey wall pulls along the south and west sides, and encloses at the eastern side in a low advancing.
The edification of Castle Kaprun started around the 12th century because the eastern tower exhibits Romanesque criteria (biforium, vaults, naves and fish-bone patterns)
The castle association acquired the castle in 1984 and an intensive renovation took place.
Since this time it is also used in a cultural way by the castle association and by the cultural association of Kaprun, and is now established as a cultural hub in Kaprun.
